I didn't want to do it...
I was so incredibly happy that our Homeowners Association (HOA) took over the management of the website that I had dedicated my time to for the last 12 years. It really took a lot off my plate, especially considering that I have been constantly involved in repairing and remodeling our place due to the extensive damage caused by multiple hurricanes. Last year was particularly challenging for me, as I was also actively engaged in the process of moving to our new home and ensuring that it was just the way we envisioned it, making the space truly feel like our own.
Unfortunately, due to the increasing complexities surrounding the Homeowners Association (HOA) and the ongoing challenges posed by the Residents Board regarding their attempts to manage the funds I raised for essential clubhouse equipment, I found myself in a situation where I needed to carefully reevaluate my position. This was further compounded by my experience of being censored on various platforms, specifically on Facebook NLYH Residents Board Communications and Original NLYH Residents. In light of these circumstances, it became essential for me to reassess my strategies and approach moving forward.
You can follow along as I develop my new site, which I am very excited about. Much of the process is self-explanatory, and you can look forward to discovering a variety of features that are on the way and will enhance your experience. Stay tuned for updates as I continue this journey with a Blog Post Website!
My Future Plans
I will have the opportunity to pose various poll questions that will help gauge the thoughts and opinions of our membership regarding key issues. It is important to note that while these polls are a means of gathering informal feedback and insights, they will not be considered official. Official matters, such as those involving member decisions and policies, can only be addressed through our annual Package, which follows a specific and structured process and is meticulously controlled to ensure fairness and accuracy.
During my six years serving on the Board of Directors, I absolutely despised rumors and the damage they can inflict on our community. They do nothing for the community at all, often leading to misunderstandings, division, and unnecessary conflict. As such, I am seeking a few dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join me in an effort to put an end to these harmful rumors by uncovering the truth and fostering open, honest communication among our members.
Additionally, I will also be calling out those individuals who continually spread rumors, which only serve to foster hate and discontent within our cherished community. It is vital we come together to combat this negativity and create a supportive environment for everyone.
I’m currently considering what I can do with a newsletter and how it might evolve to better serve our community. I see that Mary is actively looking for a “Harbor Highlights” coordinator to bring back that publication. That particular newsletter is monthly and distributed in paper form; perhaps I will create a more frequent, weekly highlights letter that can be conveniently sent directly to your inbox during our season. This way, you can stay updated with all the exciting events, news, and updates more regularly!
Use the email list that I have gathered to invite our valued members to join my website and explore all that it has to offer, including exclusive content, resources, and community discussions that will enhance their experience and engagement.
Add surveys to the website to gather valid and comprehensive information on what is happening in the community. This includes insights into what you genuinely like and dislike, as well as understanding the needs and preferences of your fellow community members. By collecting this valuable feedback, we can create a more engaging and responsive platform that truly reflects our collective interests and concerns.
